Ebook About It is very rare for a horse, either wild or domestic, to die of old age. The wild horse slows down and succumbs to predators. The ones we feed, use, and enjoy may encounter problems that dictate their euthanasia. Some may grow old in our care but eventually, given their nature, will have to be put down. This book addresses the whys, hows, and emotions of equine euthanasia. Part of the veterinary profession is putting animals down. There are many conditions in horses where this becomes the right decision. This book will help you answer questions about when that time is and how to prepare for it.Book Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse Review :
Dr J wrote this book for me. My horse is 27 and in great condition but that day is getting closer. Dr J was our vet for 19-1/2 years until he totally retired last year. I can't have him put my horse down but he has given me the wisdom and benefit from his 50 years experience in practice. He talks about composting the body, for example. It was an option that I wasn't intending to consider.Dr J wrote this book for me. It arrived a couple of days before a fellow boarder had to put her 9 year-old Irish Sport Horse down. I admire his owner - she was strong facing a difficult situation. He had a severe injury that required extended stall rest. He wasn't responding well to treatment and surgery wasn't an option. Euthanasia was always on the table. She didn't wait for him to deteriorate and suffer which happens too often.Dr J wrote this book for me. I was at the barn to ride one Sunday morning. A couple of the teenagers found a school horse mare badly injured. She wouldn't rest her right front at all and probably was kicked. She didn't seem to be in much pain and was munching on some hay. The vet arrived promptly but her elbow was fractured. The damage was too severe and she had to be put down.Dr J wrote this book for each of us and all of us. We all know the day will come when it is time to say goodbye to a horse, ours or someone else's. We may find ourselves with someone facing a difficult decision. Sometimes it's an accident or colic. Maybe it’s scheduled because it’s time. It's never easy but knowing more about euthanasia helped me maintain some composure. The vet was coming to put my friend's sport horse down at 7 am. I wanted to be certain someone was with her.Dr J's writing style is clear and down to earth, especially valuable when you have to make the decision on what is best for your horse. This volume is similar to Maine Horse Doctor. Each chapter is an essay on one topic. They include real life situations and information on what can or can't be done. I read it over a couple of evenings, but it's short, about 75 pages. You can probably read it in one sitting and you will learn a lot. I decided to read it again, randomly picking out a few chapters each time. There are a few good articles available on euthanasia but nothing comes close to this book. It's all in one place. I know enough to have made a few decisions about my horse. There is more I need to think about. I had this notion veterinarians must be hard-hearted to euthanize horses. He talks about a vet's feelings, including that they do cry at times, just like us.Thank you, Dr J. Dr. Jefferson is one of the very best veterinary and we are all saddened to hear of his retirement. After having him as my veterinary for over 40 years leaves a hugh whole. He is truly one of a kind and has a lot of feeling for both his client and their horse! His knowledge is like having the internet in front of you. The book was written feelings and a wonderful read. Thank you Dr. Jefferson for all your great years of service. Wishing you a wonderful retirement.Blessings,Joan Read Online Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse Download Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse PDF Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse Mobi Free Reading Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse Download Free Pdf Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse PDF Online Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse Mobi Online Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse Reading Online Goodbye Old Friend: The Euthanasia of Your Horse Read Online David A Jefferson DVM Download David A Jefferson DVM David A Jefferson DVM PDF David A Jefferson DVM Mobi Free Reading David A Jefferson DVM Download Free Pdf David A Jefferson DVM PDF Online David A Jefferson DVM Mobi Online David A Jefferson DVM Reading Online David A Jefferson DVMBest Bob Dylan's Malibu (EDLIS Café Series) By Martin Newman
